In 1997, the inhabitants of Marina di Puolo have formed an Association in order to create a united system of the whole village able to interact with the Public Administration: in fact, the particular position of the village, divided between Sorrento and Massa Lubrense, always had made difficult to deal with the local problems.

The aims of the Association are:
The defence of the rights of the inhabitants of Marina di Puolo
The protection of the natural environment of the whole bay
The protection and the promotion of the fishing
The organization of shows and meetings to promote the village and its activities
The partecipation in societies and associations in order to improve the village

In the first year, the Association has come to an agreement with the Harbour-Master's Office of Castellammare di Stabia about the use of the beach as regards the bathing and the fishing; then it has got the Regulation of the influx of vehicles to the village and later on, in 2000, thanks to the Association, the works to restore the breakwater cliffs, destroyed by the stormy sea the year before, have been finished.

During this period, amusing and cultural activities have been organized to promote the village and to entertain the holiday-makers and the tourists who, particularly in summer, go to Marina di Puolo.

Besides new initiatives concerning the sea, the fishing and the protection of the environment have been studied livening up to a new project: Puolomareaperto. Important aims still have to be achieved but the Association is working for them.
